Located a few minutes from the city center of Rochefort, the hotel La Belle Poule offers many opportunities for discovery and leisure activities in its immediate environment.
First, Rochefort, city of art and history, former largest military arsenal of the kingdom, home port of the Hermione, the famous frigate of Lafayette, invites a long trip. There still floats a sweet perfume of adventure and of distant horizons. A renowned thermal station, Rochefort opens a door on the estuary of the Charente spanned by the very last transporter bridge of France (just in front of the Belle Poule), the ocean and its Aix and Madame islands

You will be able to visit the Corderie Royale, the museum of the former trades, its national naval museum, the arsenal or the Hèbre museum...
Then your trip can continue by heading to the surrounding islands. The island of Aix, where nature is still queen, dotted with hollyhocks, maritime pines and other cypresses offers beautiful walks, swimming, boat trips and visits for history buffs (museum dedicated to Napoleon or even Fort Liédot built to protect the harbor of the island and the arsenal).

During a boat trip, you can approach the famous Fort Boyard, famous stone construction that stands halfway between the islands of Aix and Oléron. The island of Oléron, "the light" just 30 minutes from our hotel also deserves attention.
